Carrier Apple.com Verizon preorder + family member's account

If I preorder via Apple.com and use a family member's Verizon account information, will any charges hit their account if the phone is never activated with their account?

Hmm, bumping this from last year... still haven't found an answer. My google foo is failing me.

I was able to get the Verizon 7 I wanted in-store without account info. I doubt that will be feasible with iPhone X this year.

are you planning to buy it at full price or IUP? if both then no charge will hit their account but if you buy on carrier installments then yes there will be charges.
