So, I watched on Apple.com, somewhat amused, but for the most part... eh.

Things I noticed...

Windows guy...
overweight/bloated = XP bloated script?
older man = older OS
glasses / ill-fitting suit = OS makes you go blind and doesn't 'fit like a glove'???

Mac Guy
Unkempt shaving = 'think different'
younger = younger OS
scar in the middle of eyebrows = built in isight? :p
casual clothes = comfortable OS?

similar features-
Same comb-over (one just has less to work with)
Both white men... nice diversity apple ;)
Both have dark hair.

What did you notice?

Lots of pagers and junk on the windows guy (right next to his iPod).

...Representing the useless and cluttering features of Windows.

Windows guy:
overweight = full of tasty goodness
older man = knowledgeable, educated
glasses = smart

Mac Guy:
Unkempt shaving = unable to master even a razor
younger = uneducated, unaware
scar in the middle of eyebrows = fell asleep on mighty mouse
casual clothes = unable to master a tie

:) ;) :D :p

Y'all know I'm just joking...

by the way, that Mac guy is an actor who is 28 years old. looks much younger imo.

Yeah, I thought that guy was a lot younger. He used to play a high school student just a couple of years ago on a TV show called "Ed." Least I believe that is what it was called. I can't believe he's 28. Wow.

His name is Justin Long. He was recently in the movie "Waiting..." with Ryan Reynolds. yoda13 is right, the tv show is called Ed. His claim to fame was starring in Dodgeball with Vaughn and Stiller. For me, he represents youth...its what most college student looks like these days.

The pc guy is John Hodgman. He looks like Bill Gates, the posture, the glasses, the awful haircut, and the inability to make snappy comebacks. :D

You can get as granular with the analysis as you like I suppose.

I prefer to keep it much simpler.

One guy was cool and the other was not. The words they were speaking were for folks that have already made their computing choices. And the words were mostly for Macaphiles. Those ads aren't going to convert anyone.

99.9% of advertising, especially when a visual medium is utilized, is to evoke an emotional response.

The ads aren't designed to convert-- they're designed to reassure us Mac heads that we've made the right choice and we're the cool ones.

Works for me.

You know where else I remember him? He was the obsessed fan in Space Quest, the spoof on star wars and Star Trek...

Actually, just trying for more of a joke ;)

For those who keep suggesting the younger Mac man suggests a younger OS, alright OS X may be younger, but Apple's Mac OS is an older and more established OS than Windows remember. If anything, their ages merely point out the stereotypical users of both Windows and OS X.

Good points: did like the camera recognition, virus and crashing ads.
Bad points: didn't really see Macs much, Windows does have better included apps than calc and clock, (maybe not as good as Mac apps bundled, but unfair IMO).
