Posting here, as I may get a reply, I feel like I have hit a wall
I want to try running apple diagnostics to check my lcd screen, & I read up on how to do this, but it gets stuck searching for an internet connection.
I power on by pressing D & get the internet recovery screen, & then I get the dropdown choose a network, my network does not appear, I have to type in the name of my network and password, and then it just hangs. I tried multiple times, the fill in boxes for my network name and wifi password just quiver telling me it is wrong, but I have double checked that I am typing them right.
The only other thing I can think of is getting a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter and trying to connect this way.
It sees all other networks in my area except my own. Also, wifi is fine while normally using my mac for the web, but through diagnostics, it will not connect. I even tried moving up right next to my router while my laptop is in this mode thinking it needs to be closer, and no dice, it does not see it at all.
is there any way to run this diagnostic test without the internet?
I am doing this on a retina macbook pro 15 inch with Yosemite.
The odd thing is, while on normally my macbook can connect to the internet, but through diagnostics, it refuses to connect.
I asked on another forum about this, and they said I need to change my wifi security settings, but the network and router are not mine, and I cannot mess with the settings, would connecting via ethernet work?
