I've heard stories of static images being burned onto plasmas. But today I found a burnt image of the dock of my powermac on the display when it started up. Although it was faint, it is annoying. Any fixes? thanks
Apple doesn't make Plasma displays, only LCD. And LCDs don't suffer from burn in issues. At times you may see a faint bit of ghosting, but it goes away after a short period of time, it's certainly nothing permanent.
On LCDs it's called image persistence, not burn in (big difference ). I had the same problem on my 23" ACD, I use FCP all day, and when I close the app the window outlines were "burned in" to the screen. They didn't ever go away, so I sent it into Apple and they replaced the LCD panel and the logic board inside the case, ever since then it's worked perfect.
Apple has a fix for image persistence on their LCDs here:
