system is a dual g4/500 (sawtooth) with 1/38 GB of ram and a radeon 9000 pro (64mb)
DVD player plays audio fine, video more or less fine, save for the overlay of green/purple video noise. VLC and other 3rd party apps play dvds/TS folders perfectly, though they aren't as stable or as easy to use as apple's DVD player.
DVD player 4.5 worked excellently with 10.3.9, and on a lark I called apple (during the free 90 days from buying tiger). As expected, apple had me swap in the original rage 128 card, and with that the dvd player (then 4.6) worked fine, no noise.
However, I'm hooked on the dual digital outputs of the radeon 9000 pro, (2x dell 1905fp displays).
I had -hoped- the new drivers in 10.4.2 would help, but no such luck. I've had a ticket open with ATI for weeks but they haven't been very helpful (At one point they declared that my issue was that i was using OS 9.2.2, and was clearly just downloading the wrong drivers!)
I have tried installing a clean 10.4.0 on a spare HD and copying over dvd player 4.5 and the 4.5 frameworks, no dice.
Open to suggestions.
