Just looking through the preferences and I'm wondering why there is an HD option? I mean you can't play HD movies on a mac- and you would use quicktime or itunes to play an HD video.... maybe a sign of things to come?

I've never noticed this, mainly because I never watch DVDs from a disc on my Macs. It is interesting though. Especially since its up to 1080 as well. There's also a help screen for it that mentions high definition discs. Interesting.

If I remember correctly, it can play DVDs that have been formatted as an HD DVD.

i.e. they contain the same navigational layout and videos encoded in the same way as an HD DVD, just stored on a 9GB DVD.
