Hi there,

I used to have a leakage problem with my old iPod earphones (i.e. the person next to me is disturbed when I have the sound on a volume comfortable for me.) When I got new iPhone earphones I thought the problem might be fixed because they seemed better at it, and when I put my hands over my ears less sound seemed to leak.

However after about 8 months of use the problem is reappearing. Has anybody seen sound leakage to increase with wear and tear?

I was wondering if new Apple earphones would solve the problem.

Most headphones of that design leaks a little bit of sound. I wouldn't say it's a problem since it seems to be inherently tied to the type of design choice they made unless other headphones make significantly less noise (I haven't used these type of headphones in years). If it really annoys you, I think you should think about using an IEM (they won't hear anything but sometimes you can hear the microphonics of the cable) or a large closed back headphone (the obvious drawback is portability).
