I was just browsing through my school's (Univ. of Maryland) apple store, and saw a special on the macbook for $728.

I did a search and didn't come up with anything (on this site or google).

Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone wanting to purchase one. I'm not sure if this works with other schools or if its limited to mine.

try this: http://store.apple.com/us_edu_18286

WOW! That is quite a deal. I just checked for my school (and former schools), USC, Harvard, etc, and none of them have this crazy price. All others are $899.

A real steal here!

That is a deal i would buy it right away for that price.

Can't seem to customize with raising base price

It's a great deal, but for some reason, if I try to change options (like add more RAM) the price is increased to the regular Education Store price plus the price of the accessory.

No biggie, i'll just have to buy the RAM somewhere else and install it myself. :D

Ill send you cash Via Paypal :D

An Epic Price for an epic product!!!

Hah, i just came over here to see if anyone had posted this yet. Great deal!

Video Editing on a mac, youll definately be fine with 2GB.

The OS on a mac doesnt take up 1GB so you can use more of it.

Think about it, people on these forums are running crusty old iBooks and stuff, and alot of them have comments about running photoshop and premier pro better than a current windows Laptop.

Amazing price

Now that is one amazing price! I just picked up a 2.16 GHz MacBook (not unibody) from the bookstore at my university (Mizzou) a few weeks ago for $699 and thought that was a terrific price. But this is an almost comparable price on the latest model MacBook--the unibody one. I'd scarf this up while the scarfing is good! :):D

Oh, and I verified what others have posted. Mizzou still lists the price for this (current, unibody) model at $899.

Anybody know how they decide which schools get the larger discount and which ones don't? I'd really like to pick one of these up, but it's only $899 for my school.

If you don't mind about lying, click his link at the top of the page and buy it. They don't check your student I.D. or call the school or anything.

For real?

Just seems odd to see

Was $999
Students save $100

when in fact students save $271.

Crazy price. too bad i don't need one.

Any concidence that it happens to finally appear today in the refurb store?

I'm just trying to decide between it and the $499 mac mini that usually appears. I already have a monitor, but would have to shell out $20 for a keyboard&mouse.
Not sure if I really need portability or not, but would hate myself later if I did:eek:

Btw i'd be using it for:
FCS, Adobe AE,Photoshop, Illustrator.

I just bought this this afternoon! With the discount. It's a good thing I got it when I did, because I checked back a few hours later and the link didn't work. Can't wait!

I took advantage of this deal. Been looking to get away from PC's, so I took the plunge. Looking forward to learning about my new Macbook, and a lot of advice from Mac Forums!!:)
