Apple's online education store has gone down in the United States and Canada, as Apple prepares to launch its annual Back to School promotion for university students.

Apple's back to school sales provide students with a free Apple gift card when purchasing a Mac or an iPad, and this year's promotion could help Apple push the new M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro models.

Last year, Apple offered U.S. students up to $150 when purchasing a Mac and up to $100 when purchasing an ‌iPad‌. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple will this year again offer up to a $150 gift card with every Mac purchase, and it will additionally shave 20% off the price of AppleCare+. Gift cards will also again be offered with iPad purchases, but Gurman did not state an exact value.

Apple began advertising its Back to School sale on social networks in early June, with some Instagram users seeing an ad promoting Macs with discounts to college and university students.

Expecting to see the same offers as last year when the store comes back online.

$100 gift card with iPad Pro.
I got a better deal open box at Best Buy. 11” 512gb for $850.

So effectively $799 for the iPad Pro 11” base config…

I mean, with the “Air” as gimped as it is, is there really an alternative?

Order placed: 11" iPad Air M2 (blue), Magic Keyboard, AppleCare+, and $100 gift card. I got a $250 trade-in credit for my iPad mini.

iPad delivers free tomorrow, the keyboard sometime next week.

The terms with the monthly installments are a little confusing.
Wow I love how much legalese there is here! And I’m not kidding! Big fan of confusing law and/or game mechanics.

What is the use case for the iPad Pro?

I would like the better screen if I’m going to be paying over $500 anyway, and I would like at least the 256gb base space, since 128gb fills up fast with all of Logic for iPad’s instruments installed (about 77gb worth alone).

The use case is multi-varied and lack of imagination does not itself constitute lack of use case. The uses for iPads have been discussed to death.

I admit the Pro is a luxury purchase, and I want the M4 for longest use before I inevitably sell it whenever Apple decides to limit an essential feature (like they did with M1’s not being able to support hover with Pencil…).

I also like that the Pro is lighter than Air.

So that said, order placed: base 11” Pro, $899, free $100 gift card that will go to Apple Pencil Pro asap.

Ordered a 14 inch MBP. I'm coming from a 15 inch, so it was a tough decision between the 14 and 16, but I went to the Apple Store and the 16 inch is just too bulky. I'll just plug into my 4k monitor if I want extra screen real estate. Besides, I already use my 13 inch iPad more than my 15 inch MacBook,

Did you purchase the keyboard separately so you could use the gift card towards it?

That was my original plan, but since I purchased AC+, I bought it all at once so the keyboard would also be covered. I could be wrong, but I read that's the only way to extend AC+ to the keyboard. AC+ was only $59 with back to school.

I'm sure I won't have a problem spending the $100 on other items in the future.

That is probably true, yes. It makes sense. That's how it used to be with AppleCare for displays - if you bought a Cinema Display and a Mac desktop on the same ticket, the AppleCare for the desktop covered the display automatically.
