While it is unclear if Apple will host an October event this year, or stick to press releases, rumors suggest it will announce several new products this month.

Below, we have recapped everything to know about a potential Apple event this October.

When

The table below outlines when Apple teased its October launches over the past four years.

2022Tuesday, October 18"Take Note" TeaserTuesday, October 18

Apple recently announced its next quarterly earnings call will be held on Thursday, October 30, and Apple's Chatswood Chase store in Australia will be reopening on the same day. Earnings calls and store openings are sometimes timed with product launches, so we could see announcements in the last week of October.

What

A handful of Apple products are expected to be updated as early as this October, with the following new features and changes rumored:What about Macs? Apple's next 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips will reportedly enter mass production soon, but it is unclear if some or all of the models will launch in late 2025 or or early 2026. While new Macs are often unveiled in October, there is precedent for a launch earlier in a year too, as Apple announced MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in a January 2023 press release.

Apple is reportedly also planning a lower-priced MacBook with an A18 Pro or A19 Pro chip, but the rumored launch timeframe for that is also late 2025 or early 2026, so it is unclear if it would be announced this October. This model would likely be the spiritual successor to the MacBook Air with an M1 chip, which is still sold by Walmart in the U.S. for $599.

I have stopped watching apple events a few years ago. I don't see a wow factor in anything apple does anymore. (or any competitor by the way)

I bought a M4 MBA to replace the M1 MBA. As I use both with an external monitor, I have to look at the cables to tell which one is connected.

A slightly better camera on iPhone? Slightly more battery life ? Exactly the level of improvement mature products like cars offer. Nothing to rave about.

I mostly visit MacRumors these days because I avoid politics which are getting depressing, and I get to know when software updates are available. 😂

What do you guys think ?

I honestly believe an Apple event in October WILL happen. I'm 100% sure. Question is, will they use it to announce new Apple Home devices or not? M5 hardware launch is a given at this point.

Kinda feels like we have hit a 'peak' now on most Apple products since the M1 was introduced.

I just bought the Ipad Pro M1 on the refurb store, genuinely have no idea what I would do that requires an M5 or even M2-M4. I even video edit on mine and it doesn't skip a beat so unless they suddenly double the battery life, I can't see any reason to upgrade my Ipad anytime soon.

Our Apple TV is the 4K one from a few years back, I don't see how a faster processor is going to make the UI any faster when its blisteringly fast anyway? An Apple TV from 5 years ago is still quicker than the very latest Firestick in my experience.

WiFi 7 support is nice but its not a dealbreaker for 90% of people as WiFi 6 is more than the average persons internet speed anyway. I am in another room from where my WiFi 6 access point is and a speed test shows 650Mbps.......which is about 10x the speed I need for 99.9% of the stuff I am doing so what is WiFi 7 giving me?

I dunno, I am sure there are some people out there who buy new tech irrespective of whether they need it but personally I feel we have hit a peak here and these minor incremental updates have me skipping 3-4 years between purchases, maybe even 5

As someone who’s been watching Apple events since the first iPhone was announced, I can’t say you’ve missed much. The only truly standout presentations have probably been the Apple Watch and the Apple Vision Pro - and that’s about it.

I love tech and every tidbit of news still sparks something, but the magic mostly faded with the end of the Jobs era. And honestly, I think Apple buried it for good when live presentations gave way to video reels. Jobs was absolutely right about going live: (tech) magic tricks hit differently when they unfold in front of your eyes, not in a carefully edited montage.

So if I were in your shoes, I’d focus on the truly groundbreaking stuff - at least on paper. For example, any decently-priced AR glasses Apple releases will definitely be worth a look as that could mark a real shift away from the smartphone era.

The multi-day release of Macs last year was an absolute smash hit. They should redo that for maximum publicity. Make is so, Tim Apple.

I still wonder will the new Apple TV be based around the A18 instead of the A17 Pro. The A18's faster GPU's make more sense for faster video decoding and we know the A18 will likely work with the N1 I/O chip for WiFi 7 (802.11be) compatibility.

Very much looking forward to the new Apple TV, as my whatever generation on (I can’t keep track of the names, but it’s not the current one) is noticeably stuttering while scrolling thru the menu. More reliable HomePod minis would be a welcome addition as well!

Hasn't MR covered this 3 times already? I get it, not everyone is Apple obsessed and comes here every day. ;)

I miss the summer events where everything was disclosed in August in time for back to school, and even more time for Christmas. That was ideal, but probably required much more effort on Apple's part to adhere to this time table. Those were the good old days.

We'll likely seed some incremental speed increases in October. I feel the next big thing is going to be the foldable iPhone, particularly if it can be used like an iPad when unfolded. That would be excellent value. Fit an iPad in your pocket? Yes please!

I feel Apple is more focused trying to work out issues on the software side of things with AI and this new Liquid Glass UI. From a UI standpoint, the UI doesn't make any sense. While the effect is cool, the contrast of Liquid Glass is horrible and makes things difficult to read. I can't believe that Apple would be this foolish and there's some sort of Apple Vision Pro convergence coming with the AIs.

Inside, outside, and upside down sources told me that there will be an October Event and that it will bring back the pre-pandemic on-stage presentation style event format we all loved so much more than the current 90-minute web commercial, especially when Steve was still running the show:

Please join us in person
for a special Apple Event
in a format that will come

as a total surprise
