The revamped and improved Apple Maps experience is now live for users in France, New Zealand, and Monaco, according to Apple Maps enthusiast Justin O'Beirne. The new Apple Maps experience brings with it more accurate and faster navigation, improved imagery with three-dimensional landmarks and locations, and detailed views of roads, shopping malls, and more.

On a related note, according to O'Beirne, cycling directions for Apple Maps now covers 49 states. Apple maintains a list of where Apple Maps features are available by location on its website, but the latest locations have yet to be added.

I love(ed) Apple Maps, used it exclusively, swore by it, and would have challenged you to a duel if you said anything bad about it ... until few days ago when my cousin came for the Anime Expo in LA.

We were trying to navigate on T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T ... and all 3 were getting us confusing directions on the convoluted DTLA streets. It was actually quite an experience driving and hearing "turn right" while the arrows and the navigation line pointed straight ... just to be rerouted again. This was especially evident around the convention center, be it congested with people or middle of the night.

So maybe while everyone is getting excited about new 3D buildings which I can't really see in their entirety because I'm focused on the road ... I would much rather see an improvement in congested areas on the streets where maps are used for mostly, instead of seeing what's inside of a brick-n-mortal mall. I don't know just my 2c.

Monaco is so big that Apple had to spend much time on it before expanding to other smaller countries.
I actually wanted to observe its beautiful elevation changes in apple’s pretty maps like in san francisco or Vancouver, only to find that this expansion is completely flat.
Edit: I realized that this isn’t isn’t the new fancy maps, it’s just the old new maps.

It’s crazy to think it took Apple over 10 years to finally add multi-destinations within a route/trip.

All these features are great, but obviously years behind Google Maps.
I disagree that it is years behind Google maps. Google maps was out before Apple Maps. But using it today coming back from Melbourne Australia. It’s amazing and has been for a while marking hazards and car crashes. To Siri verbally alerting to speed cameras. Not to mention basic things like showing traffic lights on the maps. It was faultless.

Navigation has gotten worse. Here is a walking route, there is a specific pedestrian place to cross straight over the road which would cut out the loop. This manoeuvre would also be impossible in a car.

In the previous ‘release’ this bit at least was right. There is no way to report an error in navigation. Apple Maps is still considerably inferior to Google Maps.

Do you remember all the oohs and aahs when Apple deployed its fleet of cars and planes to map the world? Decade on and the aahs became angry arghs in too many white spots around the globe. I think navigation by Apple is superb but literally zero POI information in many many places is frustrating.
