Apple previously teased that Powerbeats Pro 2 would be released in 2025, and now an announcement date has leaked. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman today said Apple plans to unveil the wireless earbuds on Tuesday, February 11.

Powerbeats Pro 2 will be priced at $250 in the U.S., he said.

Powerbeats Pro are a sportier, fitness-focused alternative to AirPods Pro with built-in, adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit. According to Gurman, the Powerbeats Pro 2 will feature the same H2 chip as used in the AirPods Pro 2, which will enable active noise cancellation, which is something the original Powerbeats Pro lack.

Apple's teaser video last year showed MLB star Shohei Ohtani wearing the Powerbeats Pro 2, revealing a more vertical, slimmer design compared to the original Powerbeats Pro, which launched in 2019 and are now discontinued.

We previously discovered that Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts. Based on our iOS 18 code findings, you will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other supported apps on the iPhone.

The code also revealed that Powerbeats Pro 2 will be available in new color options, including a vibrant Electric Orange. Gurman confirmed both the heart rate monitoring feature and the orange color option in his newsletter today.

Based on other recent Beats headphones, other potential upgrades for the Powerbeats Pro 2 over the originals include improved sound quality, longer battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility with Android features like Find My Device. In addition, look for the Powerbeats Pro 2 charging case to have a USB-C port.

Interesting product, but at $250 they're not for me as I don't find them ~150-200 better than what I can get on sale elsewhere. Then again, I also rarely wear the ones I have so I'm probably not the target market.

NC is cool, but when I need it I have a pair of cans with it. Heart rate Is also neat, but my AW already does that.

I like the over ear feature as that prevents losing them when out and about.

I guess some will find them worth it based on their use case, and that's cool; but for me Apple overpriced them by about $150.

Love how they’re waiting to the exact week that many day-1 Vision Pro owners will be paying off their final installment.

And since MacRumors likely won’t do a story on it, happy birthday to the Vision Pro 🥳.

Oof, AirPods Pro price. Still rocking my original Powerbeats Pros so I’ll wait for those to start failing and for these to go on sale. I’m also curious how the heart rate monitoring will work and whether that can be used independently of gym equipment, and how that compares to the Apple Watch’s HR monitoring.

Speaking of the original Powerbeats Pros…

The original Powerbeats Pros do not offer active noise cancellation.

I’m with you on the price. Even the first gen without ANC or HR monitoring seemed overpriced when they went on sale for ~$140. I just want the hooks so that they don’t fall off my ears when they run, but I can live without the H1/H2 chip if that means saving $150.

So long as they fixed the charging issue I will use these for workouts. The past year my original Powerbeats have been horrific to keep charged, so I stopped using them. Been waiting for these are they are perfect for parkour’s as opposed to regular AirPods.

I'm not familiar with these, are they (software-wise) similar to the Airpods Pro? I can only use the AirPods when running during winter (with a cap on), otherwise I lose them within 100m. So in winter I'm running with Airpods, and the rest with Shokz, which are very good for awareness (e.g. when biking, I would only ever use the Shokz), but sometimes I don't need that good awareness and instead miss the noise cancelling and integrations that the AirPods have.

If the Powerbeats had similar noice cancelling and features (like Siri integration) as the AirPods, I would switch to these in a heartbeat.

Love these headphones but just like other said - i hope they're easier to charge. so many times i've put them in the case and watched the light turn on only to find that one is dead and the other is fully charged.
After 4 years I realized you have to remove the sticker inside the case or else oftentimes one ear will not charge. Took it off recently and issues have gone away. Got some new ear tips (silicone ones and memory foam ones) and they’ve been killer! Don’t fall asleep on these if you want a good pair of gym headphones

I owned the original Powerbeats Pros. As an active person, i preferred them over Apple's airpods. For one thing, the airpods never stayed in my ears. They always fell out. But even if they stayed in, the powerbeat pros had double the battery life. I also liked the physical pause & volume buttons. So much better than the airpods controls or lack thereof.

But last summer, i lost one of my powerbeat pros. I saw the rumor about new ones coming early this year, but couldn't wait that long... so i bought another pair of the original powerbeat pros. No regrets. A heart rate monitor wasn't important to me. My Apple watch monitors all my health stats i need. The only thing i feel I'm missing out on is the usb-c port. Right now my powerbeat pros are the only device i own that still uses a lightning cable.

I use my AirPods Pro for all workout-related stuff. I bought some inexpensive plastic hooks that the AirPods sit in and have never had any issues with them falling out. Apart from being a very sweaty person and worrying that this will eventually cause issues with my AirPods, are there any significant reasons to consider buying these?

I also run with an Apple Watch Ultra so the HR feature would be no better than on the watch right?
