Apple Fitness+ is now available in Japan, according to Japanese site Mac Otakara. Apple users who open the Fitness app on the iPhone will see the Apple Fitness+ tab available starting today.

Apple is providing users with a 1-month free trial, and after that, the service is priced at 980 yen per month or 7,800 yen per year. Japanese users do not have access to an Apple One plan that includes Apple Fitness+, as Apple does not provide a Premier plan in the country.

Apple said back in December that Apple Fitness+ would expand to Japan in early 2026. The service also recently became available in 28 new markets, including Hong Kong, India, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Fitness+ workouts and meditations are digitally dubbed with a generated voice in Japanese, with more dubbed episodes added on a weekly basis. Apple also provides workouts in English or with Spanish and German dubbing. Digital dubbing requires iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, and tvOS 26.1.

With the addition of Japan, users in 49 countries and regions around the world are able to access the Apple Fitness+ service. There are 12 different workout types available, such as strength, yoga, HIIT, pilates, dance, cycling, kickboxing, and meditation.

Workouts can be done using the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. When Fitness+ is used with an Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 3, personalized metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and activity progress are displayed on the iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV screen.

This is one of those services which I never understood why it didn't immediately launch world-wide. There are hardly any license fees they need to pay that would differ between the regions. English audio can always be an option if local language is not supported.

I don't understand why they assume we want it dubbed, or even subtitles, We are using les mills on demand for years now,
apple is so old… so slow… its sick.

Dubbing OK.. but will the original English audio also be available? Just because someone is in Japan doesn't mean they want or prefer the Japanese audio/text/etc (sooo many websites get this wrong!!!!!)
Including Apple, a lot of English movies on AppleTV are either dubbed in Japanese with no English audio or they have baked in (non-turn-off-able) Japanese subtitles. And once you've started watching you can't get a refund! I learned this lesson purchasing The Wiz, like ¥2,000 down the drain.

Now if only they would quit badgering the new markets with literal badges and notifications multiple times after dismissing the message about a trial period. I got it the first three times and I'm still not interested, yet I still get a notification in Settings and Fitness apps every once in awhile.

It's cheaper than a gym membership and I note that it offers quite a few "small space" workouts, important in Japan where the average family "house" (which is usually an apartment) is 60 sq metres in its entirety, or about 600 sq feet in obsolete units.

The original English is available, just a shame that many of the accents are grating to an international (native English) listener. The Japanese is easier to listen to, but there's no lip synch. So you have a choice of irritating but synchronised dialogue, or listenable audio but irritating visuals.

I lasted under 5 minutes, as neither worked well for me. Also painful that Apple One is so bad in Japan, excluding iCloud higher tiers and other bundles, so you end up with Apple "One plus a load of others..." which costs more than just getting the ones you want.
