Apple today announced that its Fitness+ service is being updated with several new dance routines in honor of International Dance Day, which is set to take place on Friday, April 29.

The update will include a new Artist Spotlight Dance workout that's set to the music of popular Korean pop group BTS, featuring moves that are taken directly from the choreography of BTS videos. Songs will include "Butter (feat. Megan Thee Stallion)," "Dynamite," "Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey)," "DNA," "MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)," "Permission to Dance," and "Life Goes On."

Other new dance workout additions will include songs that bring a feeling of joy and tracks that celebrate traditional rhythms from genres that include cumbia, tango, and Indian pop.

Apple Fitness+ is also going to gain workout playlists dedicated to single artists including BTS, ABBA, and Queen. There will be ABBA dance routines, BTS HIIT workouts, and Queen Strength workouts.

On International Dance Day, Apple Watch users can earn a special dance award by completing a dance workout of 20 minutes or more. Apple Fitness+ dance routines fulfill the requirement, as does any workout that uses the Dance category on the Apple Watch. Apple plans to offer six 20-minute workouts designed to help users win the award, with those workouts offering Latin Grooves, Upbeat Anthems, Throwback Hits, and Hip-Hop/R&B playlists.

Apple Fitness+ is Apple's dedicated workout service, priced at $9.99 per month (in the U.S), or $79.99 per year for the whole family. It is also included in the Apple One Premier plan where available, and the service can be used in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, the UAE, the UK, and the US.

New Apple Watch owners can sign up for a free three month Fitness+ trial, and existing Apple Watch owners who have not previously used the service can sign up for a one month free trial.

I started Apple Fitness last week. So far I think it’s pretty great, much better than I expected it to be. I’m definitely sticking to it for the long haul and will be a paying customer once my trial ends.

That being said, I have no idea what BTS is. Sounds like a digestive issue.

BTS makes me think of Behind-the-Scenes, as in a making-of documentary about a show or movie. But I don't know what it means in the context of this article.

I love the dance workouts. The ones where the choreography is broken down in each song until you know the whole routine for the last song are awesome.

 Fitness+ with  Watch is amazing. It really encourages you to exercise and keep going. This is coming from me, who barely bothered to exercise before and gave up going to the gym after 1 day. I have more stamina now and lost weight quicker than ever before.

I love Apple Fitness, been using it since its release, it has got me significantly fitter. Dance is not my thing but if it gets people interested and doing things then fair play.
Definitely dance how you feel to any music you enjoy!

Man I remember my very first dance move:
The kick by Kid’n’Play in House Party!

PS: special mention notice Martin Lawrence’s first movie appearance !

I love Fitness+. I don't get to use it as often as I did when I worked from home but it is still very nice when I go to the gym to put on a Cycling or Rowing class just to keep some company and hear some good music. That being said, I would very much like a Mac app. It has gone far too long without one and my M1 Max MacBook Pro has the best screen of all my devices. My Apple TVs are in very inconvenient spots and being able to workout with my Mac would allow me to do it much more.

Imagine doing a yoga routine with your MacBook on the floor, losing your balance, and then stomping through the keyboard 😩 what a way to kill your zen

I tried a couple of the treadmill ones during my 6 months (?) free trial. I didn’t bother with it after those. I’d rather do my own thing with music in my ears or go on Ring Fit Adventure

I LOOOOVVEEEEE BTS!!!!!!

I’m currently on a three-month trial of the service, and I think I’m just not in the target demographic. Which is okay - not every product needs to appeal to everyone.

.. which would also be revealing, wouldn't it? If you discover that you can kill your zen, you may want to start devoting your energy to something that is more meaningful to you than practicing zen.
