I ordered a Bumper case on Wednesday July 14, two days before the announcement of free Bumpers. The payment was taken out of my account and put on a hold but had/has not shipped. I never asked for a refund or a cancellation and the money was returned to my account! No email no nothing explaining anything to me.

that was just a hold.. they don't charge you until it ships. they put one on/off my account twice before it shipped and it usually only stayed for a few days.
 
Um no. When you place an order through the Apple Store online they'll do a check with your bank to make sure you have the funds available on your credit card. Therefore after an order you'll have a pending charge through your bank for a few days but then it goes away and you aren't officially charged until the item ships.
