Okay. So I've been a Mac user since I was in grade school and today I own an iPod, iPhone 4, iPad, MBP, iMac, ATV 1 and ATV 2. However, although I was somewhat of a die-hard defender of Apple back in the late 90's, I am by no means a fan boy. Especially lately when they have turned more into an iOS company.
Anyway, recently I decided to ditch the ATV 1 and centralize all media on the iMac to stream to the ATV 2. Also, the recent installation of CS 5 over CS 4 and CS 3 was making things slow on my Macs. So, I went to pull all the purchased movies and shows from the ATV 1. It was a disaster. All the shows were wiped and only about a third of the movies synced to my Mac. It wasn't a hardware issue, but there seemed to be pandemonium at the iTunes Store Universe.
I called Apple tech support and calmly explained the problem. There is no iTunes store phone support, so the very nice and able rep initiated a chat with an iTunes advisor on my behalf. I wasn't very optimistic, but I held the line for over 35 minutes, while the rep gave me updates. In the end, I was regranted every single movie and show purchase I have made since I registered the ATV1.
How's that for customer service? This is somewhat long-winded but when calling Appleespecially if none of your products qualify for free tech supportbe polite, subtly mention how many Apple devices you own and how long you've been an Apple customer, and most of the time they will take care of you. Now, I'm off to re-download my two seasons of Carnivale. Yeay.
