apple gift cards and phone trade in for X

Question, how does the pre order work when buying a new phone? I have 2 Apple gift cards with $200 each on them and I have a 6PLUS to trade in which I was told I can get $200 for from Verizon. Does the order site allow you to put 2 apple gift cards as down payment on the phone? And how does the trade in work? Would I have to wait till I get the new phone and go to a store and they would credit my account the price of the trade in?
if I have a remaining balance of a few hundred dollars after the apple cards , can I put the balance as a 24 month payment option to my monthly bill?

I can't speak for the trade-in, but Apple allows you to use the gift cards prior to your purchase. You enter the codes in and then it discounts the price, which then you put in your final payment method.
