Apple hardware test

Have a early 2009 MacBook wanting to test my ram. Can't for the life of me start apple hardware test. Runningountain lion tried d also option and d nothing. Had mountain lion DVD in and put nothing any suggestions thanks

Do you still have the installer DVD that came with your machine? You can run it from there.

The hardware test is only stored on the original install disks that came specifically with your machine. It is not present on any retail versions of OSX

Not legally. You can call Apple and buy the DVD.
