The people working in the Apple stores are kind of useless.

First thing is anybody rocking the Space Gray Aluminum S5 and the Space Black link bracelet? What do you think of the colors together?

Now. When I build the watch on the Apple website I chose 44mm Space Grey and chose the Space Black link bracelet. It shows that the Band fits 140–205mm wrists. So that is a wrist between 5.5 inches and 8.25 inches. My wrist seems to be around 7.5 inches.

So I asked the guy at the Apple store to show me the large size. They didn't have it in Black so he put a silver one on the 44mm watch (no idea what this silver was was meant for) and it barely would close on my wrist. So something is wrong. I don’t think he knew how long the silver band was but he was a total jerk so I just said OK and left.

I called Apple and talked to the sales guy and he wasn’t able to really answer the question either. So what do I do now? Assuming the color issue is OK I suppose the only thing I can do is order the set and see how it fits. Then either return it or
if it really is too small I can order the extra link kit ($49). Seems to me the 140-205mm should actually work and I should in fact probably have to remove a link.

Anybody have experience with this watch/band combination?

Kind of frustrating. None of the three Apple stores in my area have The Space Black link bracelet in stock so I can’t really demo the combo in the store.

I also have a 7.5 inch wrist and had to remove one link. It works and looks well. Another thought the bands costs almost as much the watch. Not a very good value proposition.

Thank you. That makes sense to me.

The Apple employees are really not trained well on issues other than the obvious.

Thanks again. Pretty much answers my question.

Most of the bands are in a draw on the watch table. Every apple store I have been in has the silver, black bracelet and leather bands in the drawers.

I know but none of the stores close to me (3) seem to have the newest SB link bracelet in the right size.

When I called Apple he checked inventory in all there stores close to me and none have them in stock and apparently none have the demo bands in the correct size either.

:(

Dont worry about the size. Just ask for the black and solver and add the necessary links from the silver on. It's possible, I have done it.

As someone mentioned it looks very storm troopery.

The stainless steel link band does not pair well the aluminum, just from my own experience. I first purchased the Apple Watch in April 2015, I opted for the 42 mm aluminum and I also had the stainless steel link band at the time, and the two metals just contrast way too much to look uniform. The link band really was intended for the stainless steel Apple Watch.

@H57 can you post some pictures of your Space Gray case with the Space Black link bracelet?

Personally I think aluminum + link bracelet is low-key tacky because the color mismatch and I am borderline OCD, but to each their own. Anyways here's how it would look like (left) on an S3.

Yeah i guess it's a personal thing. Clearly the Space Black looks a little better but not sure the SG + SB is too much of a reach.. I've seen a lot of ugly combinations posted on this forum and that isn't one of them!

Thanks for the pics!
