Apple today shared a new AirPods ad starring singer Harry Styles, following the release of his new album "Harry's House" last month.

The ad features Styles and others with colorful, silhouette-like appearances as they dance while listening to music in Spatial Audio on AirPods.

"The magical listening experience of AirPods with Spatial Audio meets Harry Styles' new album 'Harry's House," says Apple. "With dynamic head tracking, to hear sound all around, you'll hear Harry Styles like never before."

The ad draws similarities to Apple's iconic iPod ads with silhouettes of people dancing or rocking out to music from the mid-2000s.

The third-generation AirPods were released in October 2021 with a new design, Spatial Audio support, and IPX4-rated water resistance.

What are people's experience with Spatial Audio? I . . . don't really find any use out of it and it's not so groundbreaking that i need to keep it on.

One time I was at trader joes and got confused because when i turned to put something in my cart, my audio got quieter and I realized I had SA turned on. So i turned it off and left it that way.

An interesting blend: Apple-tier (amazing) visuals paired with Disney-tier (awful) sonics.

I like the spatial audio on the airpods pro. In the past year I changed from Spotify paid account to Itunes Music subscription and the high fidelity improvement was night and day. Spatial audio takes it another 1/2 step further and takes the music from being flat to richer and more enveloping.

Of course - the content has to be enabled. Also, be sure to turn off the head tracking when shopping! 😉

I think almost all of Apple's non-music commercials are great.
But here my eyes hurt.
In 2004, that colorful sheme was new and somehow interesting.
Now we have 2022... Horrible play of colors. Disappointed.

Otherwise, I really like Apple making spatial audio the standard.

Yep. Wonder what the original vocal pickup sounded like. This is so processed it sounds rather alien. Also, massive DRC which sadly is used for nearly 100% of pop music today. But that is what folks are used to, and presumably sounds better via headphones. "Dynamics"..."Who needs 'em".

I recently bought AirPod Pros and I forgot they had spatial audio. Maybe I’ll turn it back on and try it.

Maybe try and cancel out surrounding noise when on the phone? Those things are absolutely useless on a bicycle, or doing something else (whatever) when on the phone. The only normal experience is Microsoft Teams, that actually implemented a proper background noise filter.

Apple makes the best ads.

in general I strongly dislike ads, and this one is far from my favorite Apple ad, but kudos to whoever is in control of apples ad production.

Not sure if this is more for pushing Apple Music selection of Spatial Audio titles or trying to help sellout the current AirPod Pros so they can introduce the next model.

I’m still trying to figure out who is Harry?!!

Up until 2wks ago never heard of him then suddenly every music channel shouting his name. Any accolades or awards or just music corp pushing with big dollars to entice their sales investment in this performer?

Apple Music recently hosted a live concert of Harry Styles. Yes could be what you mentioned last. :)

You're joking right? ? Are you suggesting that a rider should block out all outside noise when riding? Wha!

Don't subscribe to any of the streaming services that support it so don't use it.
When I turned on spatial audio in the APPs, it does sound like sound was more broad and open like hearing sound in an open room which sounded nice.
But really don't use or need it so it's been turned and left off.
Apple needs to fix the ANC/Transparency modes to work better in the APPs.

Spatial Audio on Music sucks, it’s useless, 3d music is a fad like 3d movies.

Spatial audio used in TV shows and Movies is where it’s at. In music you can’t really tell the difference because they are trying to sell you that the music is being played “All” around you when it’s unrealistic, even when going in concerts the audio source comes from one direction. It’s like the drummer is to the left, the bassist is to the right, the singer is behind you, but you are supposed to be standing in the middle Of all it.

Movies and videos are actually recorded for you to be immersed in the viewing experience hence why Dolby atmos content audio feedback is completely noticeable while listening to it as you watch. Doesn’t have to be Dolby atmos but even Dolby 5.1 comes back to make it better for you!

A lot of streaming apps low-key support Spatial audio, but you can see it enabled when you change the volume.

I pull out my shure head phones for high quality music and use my AirPods Pro for watching videos.

Spatial audio is a gimmick. It's a neat trick, but doesn't make the listening experience better for most things. A lot of the tracks I heard on Apple's playlist sound objectively worse than the original mix, so much so that I was kind of shocked they picked those tracks to promote the feature. I could see it being useful for gaming or a AR/VR headset though.
