I just noticed when I signed into my Apple ID account on my iPhone, it asked me to also enter my MacBook password as well under additional setup.

See attached images.

How can I disable this?

Also, I don’t know if this has anything to do with this, but I setup two yubikey security keys for my Apple ID account but only from the MacBook. But I was able to sign in to my iPhone using the same security key.

How can I disable this?

It sounds like it’s doing this as an additional means of verification. Before I had my Mac I’ve had it ask me to enter my other iPhone passcode. It wasn’t specific about what iPhone so that was annoying.

Here is a similar question that I found here.

Can I choose Reset End-to-End Encrypted Data? Or will this entirely wipe out my iPhone passcode and all other data stored locally?

I NEVER EVER even used iCloud for anything. Never. No passwords are stored in iCloud Keychain as well.

So is it safe to choose Reset End-to-End Encrypted Data?BBF16504-CBD7-4E1D-A904-735B32D46243.jpeg

Well, when the Enter Mac Password appeared again, I managed to login with my Mac password and it continued to sign me into my Apple account.

Then, I signed out and then after a few hours later signed back in and now somehow It’s letting me in this time with no need to enter my MacBook password.

Is this a new security feature from Apple? If yes, then can someone please post a knowledge base article?

How can I disable this if this appears again?

Or maybe next time I should try and select the Reset End to End Encryption.

It’s just iCloud Keychain and a few other iCloud features that tag onto it (Messages, HomeKit, Health, perhaps a few others). Lots of iCloud features don’t require that, e.g. photos - iCloud Drive - Contacts - Calendar, etc are all fine without Keychain.

Once you’ve “Re-authenticated” the end-to-end encryption, by supplying the password/passcode of another device, then you’re in the clear.

If you “Reset” it at any point, then you’ll be prompted to enter the NEW device passcode on all the OLD devices, because resetting it will remove their authentications.
