I have an apple iMac G5 that won't power on. I found a faulty capacitor so I have replaced it with an identical replacement. it powered on once while I had it partly assembled. then I finished assembly and then attempted to power it on and to no avail. inside the led 1 is lit and when the internal power button is pressed led 2 flashes and then goes off. I am still getting the same electrical humming I was getting before I replaced the capacitor.

Any ideas? I know the PSU can be faulty however, I doubt it is as it booted up literally 5 hours ago?

I’ve had faulty PSUs that would jerk you around like that. Another option might be that you have multiple failed caps that need replacing. You fixed one and now the next failed. That is a common failure on these.
