Apple ImageWriter II Error Light

Hello, I'm a collector of old apple stuff and someone gave me an Apple ImageWriter II. I was thrilled to death. However, the red error light won't stop blinking. I have looked up on several different online manuals and the blinking error light means paper out of alignment or cover is not on. I have made many checks to insure that the paper was aligned and that the cover was on correctly. After I turn it on and the carrier quits moving, the error light blinks steady. I have no idea what to do and need some help. Thanks a bunch.

Ah, the Imagewriter II... a blast from the past!

Are you sure the front cover is fully seated? A blinking error light means either the front cover is off or there is a jam in the printing mechanism. Take the cover off, check everything closely and replace the cover. Press select and see if the blinking stops. Otherwise, there may be something in this pdf that can help.
