Yes, Apple's in-ear headphones work for the iPhone 3G, although the volume controls will not work (as the 3G was released before these headphones, and without the necessary hardware to support the controls). Everything else works fine (click to answer calls, double-click to skip song, etc.)

I couldn't tell you if that eBay link is the latest revision of the headphones or not. It's definitely the newer model (as opposed to the old model that came out a few year back), however the newer model had a slight revision a few months ago. You can see the difference between when it first came out and when it was revised here.

The revision just replaced the cord with one worked a little better.

I see. Do you think it's a good buy still? Worth the risk even without the revision? (since it's 50/59 whether or not it has it).

Thanks

a) you posted this in the wrong forum ( this is an accessory question)

b) you need to make the decision yourself, you're the one buying them.

c) you posted an ebay item link. those could very well be replica's ( Chinese replica's are sometimes very hard to tell from the real things). basically buyer beware

I think you should do a little more research on your own ( find out about the revision, and also ask the user if they are genuine apple headphones) before you buy anything... but bumping your own thread will not get you any answers

plus its against forum rules

On the Apple Store it doesn't say it's compatible with the iPhone 3G, it does say it is compatible with the iPhone 3Gs but I guess sound getting through just works fine.

Got mine. Fast delivery and they sound pretty good.
If they are real and cost $80 I would be disappointed in my purchase. Paying $40 they are worth it.
