Apple has given a straight to series order for a detective drama series executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey's Team Downey production company, reports Variety.

The show is based on co-producer Michael Lista's Toronto Life article "The Sting," which follows a Canadian detective who reopens a decades-old cold case with the aim of winning a confession and becoming a hero.

The case spirals out of control when the detective launches an elaborate sting with playacting cops, taxpayer resources, and an unexpected friendship with the target of the investigation.

The Downeys, Amanda Burrell, and Michael Lista will executive produce, while Adam Perlman will write the series and serve as an executive producer. Downey may also have a supporting role in the series.

Downey's production company currently produces HBO Drama "Perry Mason" and is working on Netflix series "Sweet Tooth."

I like good detective shows. I will give it a watch if it comes before my free year is over with.

I made it through the first episode of Perry Mason and that was it. Not a good show, even though the video is stunning to see.

Detective Show (I LOVE detective/mystery shows, Apple is making them in spades - Home Before Dark, Defending Jacob, more)? RDJ? Sign me up!! I love the MCU and it seems Apple does too. The number of Marvel Cinematic Universe stars joining Apple TV+ shows is mind boggling.

Chris Evans,
Brie Larson,
Samuel L. Jackson + Anthony Mackie (one show together),
RDJ,

Just add shows featuring ScarJo, Tom Hiddleston, and Benedict Cumberbatch please.

Bonus: Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa (I know, they're DCEU, whatever)

Do the kids even know what "inks" means these days?
Kids learn words by being exposed to them. It’s not like they come out of a factory with a ore-installed vocabulary. If words like, “inks”, keep getting used (in that context), then (some) kinds will learn that definition of the word.

Aside from a couple rather gory/disturbing scenes, I am enjoying Perry Mason immensely. Saw the Team Downey card at the end, didn't realize it was RDJ. If Perry Mason is a harbinger of things to come, looking forward to this new show.

You do know that the Marvel Universe isn't real, don't you.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite real - a collection of stories that have given rise to many billions of dollars worth of movies, and it involves a whole bunch of well-known actors, some of whom are showing up on Apple’s TV+ productions. Comment made perfect sense to me, as a mildly interesting observation.

I'm looking forward to this. I enjoyed the first Sherlock Holmes with RDJ.
Seems like Apple TV+ is lining up a lot of things for the future. I wouldn't mind seeing them buy MGM or Lionsgate as well for a back catalog.

What does your comment even mean?

Disney has (famously) branded its shared cinematic universe of Marvel comics based movies "The Marvel Cinematic Universe" or MCU. Why would you assume that I have such a weak grasp on reality that I actually think these Marvel superheroes "exist" in real life? You can Google the "MCU" and "DCEU", etc., this is the accepted nomenclature by the fans and the world.
