I’ve been testing Apple Intelligence for the past few weeks, and it seems like Apple is intentionally limiting their software when it comes to language support.

I live in a country where we primarily speak a non-Latin language, and while Siri supports it,
most of my daily interactions aren’t in English. Here are some things I've noticed:

Voice Dictation & Siri

Siri can speak a ton of languages, including mine. But even years after its release, it still struggles with messages in mixed languages.
Most times, when I get a message while using AirPods, I hear:
> “[Name] sent you a message I can’t read.”

But here’s the thing—occasionally, Siri will read the message, handling the other language effortlessly.

Why do Apple still limits Siri from speaking multiple languages I can't understand

Notification Summarization

If the messages aren’t in English, Apple Intelligence often skips summarizing them.
Yet, if they're mixed-language messages, sometimes it does summarize them - even understanding the non-English parts!

Again, this is an intentional software limitation.

It seems to me like the technology is already there and working, and yet Apple chooses to handicap their software intentionally.

International English support seems to have been added to Apple Intelligence in macOS Sequoia 15.2, my iMac is set to International English and that reported that Apple Intelligence was now available when I installed the OS update this morning.
