At the Apple Event today, Apple announced a wealth of new bands for the Apple Watch, including an all-new "Solo Loop" band style. This band doesn't have any clasp or buckle, and is made out of one continuous piece of silicone.

To put it on and take it off, you'll just stretch it a little to get it over your hand, and it comes in twelve total size options for an "ultracomfortable" fit. To find your best fit, Apple provides a printable tool on its website.

The Solo Loop costs $49.00 and comes in Pink Citrus, Deep Navy, Cyprus Green, Ginger, (PRODUCT)RED, Black, and White.

A "Braided Solo Loop" comes in the same style but is constructed with a recycled yarn and available in five colors, running for $99.00. Colors include Atlantic Blue, Inverness Green, Pink Punch, (PRODUCT)RED, and Charcoal.

As a note, the Solo Loop and Braided Solo Loop are optimized for Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 4 or newer. Sizes one through nine work with 40mm cases, and sizes four through 12 work with 44mm cases.

While these new bands should technically fit on the equivalent 38 and 42 mm casings from Series 3 and earlier, you may have to size up a bit to account for the slightly smaller casing if you want to use one of these bands with an older watch.

So...does this mean these straps will need to come in 10+ sizes in ~0.5inch increments? A stretchy band it great but with no length adjustment they will need more than 2 sizes...

They showed like 8 different sizes. That seems like a major step back from a supply chain management perspective.

Apple over the past couple of years seems to be really reducing the total number of default options and pushing customers towards purchasing additional bands.

I’m curious is if this ‘silicone’ solo loop band is the somehow affiliated with fluoroelastomer (Which is totally different material composition from rubber that is composed of the sport bands.)

So if you have arthritis, or even just a cut or a band-aid, you're going to have to drag that thing over your hand. The alternative is a band that has a magnet so you can only hope it stays on (if your job doesn't already preclude wearing a magnet on your wrist).

Won't this get lose over time, and also, didn't Apple solve the problem of multiple sizes with magnets in the leather loop? Why not employ this strategy for silicone? Not comfortable?

I love the idea of these and I really like the red body but I am not showing them available on the website so I am assuming they are not available yet?

I should say they are available on the website to click on but they are not available for delivery

You lose weight with their activity app, what do you do? (or gain weight. "of you can buy a new one for 80$, yes it's made in China for 50 cents, but you know, the design, the shipping..." Sorry stupid idea...

Yep... you get this as part of the ordering process. You just measure your wrist then enter the results in the configurator and it tells you which size you need.

Yes, they are not for everyone, but these are one of multiple options. I think these will be really good for those with dementia who could have problems adjusting a strap.

I'm curious how stretchy these are. The regular sport band was always either too tight or too loose for me, so this new band might be the ticket.

Or wear one of the many other bands available?

Oh, I wanted to get the Inverness Green Braided Solo Loop for my series 0.

This is a great idea. Apple has always said that some health features don't work on people with hairy arms. Now they have a solution.

So I followed the instructions and measured my wrist. Got my size. Then realized my wrist was compressed from where I wear the watch. Took it off to update. Let my wrist settle. Totally different size. Wonder if they are going to let people exchange sizes easily. This is going to be fun.
