You can't go wrong with a screen protector. They're cheap, and they're good for protecting your screen.

I baby my phones, and I'm always SUPER careful with where I put them, but I always managed to get tiny hairline scratches on them. I'd rather a screen protector take the damage than the actual screen on my phone/iPad.

I had one on my iPad Mini (bought it last year this time) from day one, and sold it with it still on it. The screen AND the protector were both essentially flawless :)
