The keyboard on this so called computer started going funny about 2 months in after I bought it new from an Apple Store. At the time they refused to repair it because I couldn’t replicate the issue of repeating keypads at the store. Fast forward to 2020 and my 2 year out of warranty computer has 30% of its letter keypads totally Not working/repeating letters. I found out that they have a repair program, I took it into Apple, the genius immediately noticed the issue and sent it it, saying That they’ll replace the entire keyboard panel. Great I thought, not that I was impressed because this machine has been just a nightmare but anyway. Of course they call me a week later that there’s water damage inside. The machine works, I don’t need them to do any repair on an out of warranty machine, just for sweet heavens, replace my broken keyboard or keypads but they can’t because of this policy. What would you guys do in my position? Would you accept the fact that the water indicator they found signals contact with water and leave it at that or try to argue with customer care about their repair service extension for faulty keyboard (which is definitely not affected by liquid damage)

FYI no liquid has ever, EVER come in contact with this machine, I use it in the kitchen often so I figure moist might have gone in.

i bought my "2017" 15" MBP in late 2016 and apple recently repaired the keyboard
if that helps

you might 2nd opinion and take it to another local apple store

Depends where the water indicators are tripped. If it was in the keyboard/trackpad mechanism (perhaps wet fingers) I could see them denying the work.

Anyway you can argue with them as see where you get. Best of luck.

When they refused repair on my iPhone 7 Plus they sent me a few pics of oxidation inside. Was this the case?
