Especially since they're still Kaby Lake and not even Coffee Lake

what an embarrassingly expensive and ridiculous nTB lineup!

People would be out of their minds to not just buy a refurbished 2016/2017 instead of new 2017 that is still 2018/unchanged if they still want the nTB that bad.

I also, like others, foresee the NTB becoming MacBook or going extinct if Apple does release a proper MB 13" option that isn't just the 12"

I’ve ordered 30+ Lenovo thinkpads for work recently. Base config all come with 256gb drives and 8gb.

Even their high end x1 machine starts with those specs.

Thats what I mean

8/256 should be standard. especially for 7th gen processors still being shipped. especially for the price!

INSANE even by Apple standards. Transparent greed will likely be their downfall, if they are to have one (not really, but a 'ding' / 'dent')

Far and away better hard drives in the MBP, but yes, 128 shouldn’t even be a thing offered in a Mac in 2018.

They are not "stingy"; they are a commercial company governed by the profit motive that has managed over the years (and decades) to craft and build a reputation for quality that allows them to charge a premium price for their products.

So, they will charge what they can get away with and what the market will bear.

Bear in mind also, in recent years, Apple no longer pays quite as much attention to its computing arm.

It doesn't need to, as much of its income and most of its profits derive from other product lines (iPad, iPhone, apps, etc).

So, in essence, Apple has ceased to be a computer company that has dabbled in other areas of tech, and has, instead, become a highly profitable global tech company with a computing arm that is no longer quite as necessary to the integrity and identity of the brand as it once was.

You're saying they have the right to charge an insane amount, and I'm not arguing they arent.

You're saying they're kinda abandoning their computing arm, and I agree and disagree. the 2018 refresh is a good one, but the nTB is weak af. And they aren't addressing anything aside from True Tone, and a new CPU drop in. And a BIG OLE problem with durability of their new KB. BUT... People still aren't all in on USB-C, and most have to deal with a bunch dongles and stuff. I'm not one, but I understand the concerns (I don't use accessories much and the few I do have a dongle attached always or are already USB-C. People also still aren't all in on the low key travel keyboards, fixed or not. Some people want a lot more travel and responsiveness.

and having to spend $1800 to get 8th gen Intel CPU and being FORCED into touchbar ways, shows they don't care about their users imo...

There are people who would pay a premium to keep escape key and function keys, and get the latest and greatest too. Not on the table tho.

and 128GB is embarrassing for Apple more than worth it for the margins imo.

Reminds me of holding onto 16GB on iOS for as long as humanly possible, until the iPad Pros and iPhone 7. Where they offered 32GB, which still wasn't enough but less embarrassing.

it hurts the brand more than it helps their margins, imo bc Lots of apple fans feel Apple is taking advantage on another level, and I genuinely cant argue with that-- unless Apple paid me handsomely to spin it, and I'd still feel meh about it.

Maybe they're expecting people to use all those massive amounts of iCloud storage that comes free with buying Apple phones, tablets, and computers?

Oh, wait ...
