Nothing is more annoying than trying to invoke hands-free Siri from my Apple Watch when I’m in the same room as my HomePod.

Currently, if I raise my wrist to send a text and say, “hey Siri,” then my HomePod responds that it can’t do personalized requests (I disabled this for obvious reasons).

It means to use Siri on my Watch I have to hold the crown in to invoke Siri. In watchOS 5, you no longer need to say, “hey, Siri.” Yay!!! Thanks, Apple!

I haven’t watched it yet...what do you say then?

Instead of raising the wrist and saying, “Hey Siri - message my wife I’ll be leaving in 15 minutes,” you just raise your wrist and say, “message my wife I’ll be leaving in 15 minutes.”

What if you raise your wrist and say something that you don't want Siri to be involved in? May ultimately be some new conflicts...
Raise wrist to scratch nose, "I should tell ____ to kiss my ____"

Good point, but it doesn't really fix this annoyance on other devices

That remains to be seen! :D

I'll have to see how this all works. In my office, let's say I raise my wrist and Siri starts picking up other people talking and says "I don't know how to do that" or something. Could be annoying.

I haven't watched WWDC but I find this surprising or if nothing else curious exactly how it works.

Hey Siri was not going import to invoke Siri operation but it was important for privacy. Hey Siri was checked and confirmed before any data was sent to Apple. While they supposedly guard this data, encrypt it, anonymize it, etc it was a night way of knowing Siri was just sending everything to Apple.

In lieu of sounding lazy does anyone have anymore information on this?
