apple keyboard, main numbers don't function

so i have a large wired apple keyboard for my imac. it has the number pad on the right side. somehow the main numbers, above the letters, were turned off. the sqiggly line button, all the way through the dash button no longer seems work. i've tried everything and feel like a fool. anybody know how to fix this????? PLEASE HELP exclamation point.
