I have a USB keyboard for my iBook and it recently started giving probs. The spacebar wont work and when I type f, h automatically pops up. I have no clue what to do, I've restarted already and tried both USB ports?

No I didn't spill anything on it :p.

I don't have a keyboard at this time. I'm using the one on my iBook but its a hassle and annoyance when using my iCurve.

Try removing this file:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.UniversalAccess.plist to the desktop

then restart the computer.

This preference file stores the keyboard output settings. It will regenerate once the computer is restarted as a new file.

TROUBLESHOOTING: Always a Simple Test:

Log in as another user to see if it's a problem localized to your user, or it's system-wide.

If it's localized you your user, then the fix above may help. If it's system-wide, it's a more serious problem.

I am having the same problem as well. A few weeks ago I went to logon and some of the keys didn't work, and others would type two or three keys each time i pressed them. I can plug in a USB keyboard and it works fine, but the keyboard on my ibook G4 is not working. It doesn't matter what profile I logon to either. And I haven't spilled anything on it either, I've been through that before. Any suggestions? I tried calling apple, but they won't help me since it's over a year old.

This file isn't in my preferences folder.

Ok did everything, but my space bar still isnt working. The keyboard is working better, before if i typed F, h would appear, now that parts fine. Now its just the space bar :S

If the space bar is not working still, you may have a hard ware issue. This test will tell you for sure.

Boot in to Open Firmware (apple+option+O+F on restart), once you get to the white screen let go of the keys and simply test the keyboard. If the space bar works, you need to do and Archive and Install Preserving user and network settings (assuming OS X 10.2 and higher). If the space bar still does not work, reset the PMU and to the test again.

If the issue still persists after that, you have a hardware issue.

type "mac-boot" to restart the computer (minus quotations)

This is all assuming that you are not using an Intel Mac.
