Following last week's announcement, Apple today began offering the 128 GB iPad in the Apple online store with shipping currently listed at 1-3 business days for most models in most countries. Wi-Fi + Cellular models in the United States are currently being quoted 3-5 business days for shipping across all three carriers.

The new model, offering double the storage capacity of the previous top-of-the-line model, carries a $100 premium over the 64 GB versions and is available in all four combinations of black/white and Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi + Cellular models.

After supply constraints dogged both the new iMac and iPad mini, analysts will be watching closely to see how Apple manages supply times for the latest addition to the company's product line. Stock levels have, however, generally been good on the full-size iPad, which has reportedly seen a significant drop in demand as consumer interest has shifted to the iPad mini.

Wow a 128 gb for $799 (interesting, the prices are listed in CND). I really hope that flash technology drop in price real soon

Edit again: its both 799 Canadian and American.

Will wait for 100 dollar price cut on iPad 5 this holiday season 2013.

Why Apple? Why push a new high price instead of cutting current prices or just sitting on it till a model update?

Vote with your wallet. That's what I plan on doing. :)

Wow a 128 gb for $849. I really hope that flash technology drop in price real soon

It dropped ages ago. You can buy 128GB of flash storage for way under the $100 they're charging for just the 64->128GB upgrade. Heck, you can get 128GB close to that price in retail outlets!

It's a way of averaging out the profit margins, higher profit margins on the high end model subsidise the lower margins on the low models.

I'm anticipating it, hoping for it, but there is no certainty. I'm surprised they upped the RAM on the iDevices, because it cuts down need for the cloud services.

Lets pay as much as a full laptop for a device that does half of what the laptop does. Seems logical.

jikes, u could get an macbook air with that kind of money. i'll wait and see what the iPad 5 brings. they are probably just milking it for what its worth now and drop the 16 gb with the next generation and adjust the prices accordingly ... i hope. its a bit ridiculous to sell 16 GB for 100$ when its worth like 10 bucks

Though non-128GB iPads are all "in stock", they list the 128GB AT&T version as "1-3 days" (and not just "in stock"), and VZW and Sprint are 3-5 days, right out the gate. Maybe they aren't fully stocked yet?

Apple should retire the 16gb model and make the 32gb $499 and so on.

I think it is. There are many people out there that would pay full price for a laptop but only use half(if that) of its features and capabilities.

Drop 16 GB

Make 32 gb entry level and the pricing should go:

32 GB 499/629
64 GB 599/729
128 GB 699/829

799/929 is just too much.

I think the chances of the iPad 5 starting with 32gb is slim. With cloud services now, the reliance to keep everything on your iPad locally has gone down. There will always be users that want everything to be is there which is fair especially when you consider the cost of data plans. However, most people are okay with 16gb. I personally will continue to get the 64gb model.

Heck, if I was Apple, I would keep four storage sizes for the next year or two before considering coming back to three sizes. Why? More cash!!!

Do we really need 128GB iPhone, what are you doing with the 64gb? Or are you suggesting it for suggestion sake?

Yes, if you have a lot of music, photos, applications, some movies from iTunes or recorded on camera. That 64GB can be filled very quickly..

Do we really need more than 640KB? :))))
