Apple today announced the launch of a new multiview feature for the Apple TV 4K, which is designed to allow MLS Season Pass and Friday Night Baseball fans to watch multiple sports games at the same time.

Apple TV 4K owners can watch up to four simultaneous sports streams, including Major League Soccer matches, Friday Night Baseball games, and some MLS and MLB live shows like MLS 360 and MLB Big Inning.

The customizable multiview experience in the Apple TV app lets users see available live games at the bottom of the screen, and they can select the games that they want to watch. There are multiple layout options available for two matches and for matches, along with audio control preferences. Swapping back to one screen can be done with a click.

Though Apple does not mention it, multiview sports could require tvOS 16.5, as the feature has been active during the tvOS 16.5 beta testing period. tvOS 16.5 is available as of today.

Integrate this with Paramount+ Apple TV Channel too!!!! the TV App already detects when its going to play a live sports match on its CBS feed. Make it a part of this feature too.

Man now I wish Apple had gotten the NFL package.. This would have been sick for NFL games on Sundays

Makes me wish they'd gotten Sunday Ticket. I think YouTube's implementation will suck, tbh.

They certainly could have gotten NFL ST. They just didn't want to pay the most for it and rumors said they also didn't want to respect the owners of it- the NFL- by then selling it at the traditional pricing (so the product would continue to have high perceived value for the next round of bidding years from now).

Just like Apple, other companies want to maximize revenue and maximize perceived value of their product. Apple needs to "play ball" on both to win such "contests."

It would be nice if we could get multi view for all apps really, I sometimes like to watch a show and have the news on in the background muted. Boring I know, but for bigger events etc.

Eh, reports and rumors also were that Apple wanted the NFL to give them more control on HOW it was distributed to customers (i.e. blackouts, etc) but yes, the price as well.

I believe the NFL was pretty short sided and for the lack of a better term stuck in their ways of the old distribution model rather than seeing the bigger picture of being in millions, if not billions of pockets and the goodwill they'd receive.

Ultimately I think it was killed at the behest of Fox and CBS, moreso than the league itself, but that's just me.

It's weak. What I need is the ability to watch a game on CBS, a game on NBC and a game on ESPN. Hulu could do that all on their own app so I mostly blame them, but Apple TV needs to let me have streams from multiple applications open simultaneously. I used to be able to watch feeds four up on regular cable since a long time ago. Its the only thing I miss from cable.
