Apple's next Apple Watch Activity Challenge is set to take place on Saturday, August 28th, in celebration of national parks worldwide.

Apple will ask Apple Watch owners to complete a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile to earn a special National Parks award.
Let's take a day to appreciate the beauty of national parks all over the world. On August 28, earn this award by recording a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile (1.6K) or more with any app that adds workouts to Health.
As with all Activity Challenges, the award will be accompanied by animated stickers that can be used in the Messages app.

Apple always celebrates national parks in August, and last year introduced an Apple Pay donation program and highlighted Apple TV+ content, Apple Music songs, podcasts, books, and more all focused on national parks.

How about riding your bike for your usual distance, and then walk with your bike for a mile? :D🚲
Apparently you have never walked a bike when you're wearing clip-on shoes ... I had to do that for a couple miles due to a destroyed tire and that is NO fun, and a badge on my iPhone will NOT motivate me to do that ever again :)

I know you were only kidding 😺😺

Oh yeah, that would be painful.

And as every time we get this challenge, we are not allowed to ride our bike through Apple's national parks 😂 :(
Come on Apple, why not including riding your bike???
Sadly, I am beginning to think Apple hates cycling.

I hope only those who can abide by the Take only memories, leave only footprints motto take up this challenge. The last thing we need is a bunch of city slicker/tourist trashing our national parks.

Or stacking rocks on top of each other. WTF? That's only for marking trails! Leave them alone!!!

I’m sorry but this is horrifying. Talk about infantilization, what does Apple think that all their customers are 12 year olds in the Boy Scouts?

This is just weird.

That was actually one of my favorite weekend pre-pandemic activities. I would walk with my bike 10 miles to a favorite sandwich shop, treat myself to lunch, then ride the bike back home.

Gee I was hoping for a pin that showed I was working with the Forest Service to change the orbit of the moon! I mean, I got the T-Shirt so I'm part of the team. Not sure when we are going to start nuking the moon but I suppose the forest service needs to get their ponderosa pine launch vehicle working. Guess I can walk through the forest until then. 🤣

That sounds like a great workout and a great lunch to top it off.

Do I have to be in a National Park to get it?

It looks like you only need to do a 1 mile walk or run to get the badge, regardless of where the exercise takes place.
