I just got a new job and am working with a Mac computer (yeah!!!). I have a MBP Retina and asked my company to get a Thunderbolt Display (that is what I have at home). They instead purchased the Apple LED Cinema display; I don't know why. I think I will ask them to return it and get the Thunderbolt.

My question is, why is Apple still selling the old display, and who is paying $999 for a display with many fewer ports???

A thunderbolt display won't work with older macs, so they continue to sell both versions.

I would ask them to return it for the correct model, I believe the price is the same, they probably just ordered the wrong one.
