As we previously reported, iOS 26 enhances Apple Wallet app boarding passes in a few ways. First, the passes now support Live Activities, allowing you to keep track of a flight at a glance on your iPhone's Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and newer. In addition, new shortcuts below the passes provide one-tap access to Apple Maps for airport directions, and to the Find My app for baggage tracking. And, the Wallet app automatically updates flight details, such as the gate and departure time.

Apple has since announced that the refreshed boarding passes will be available starting with 10 airlines, including Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, United, Jetstar, Lufthansa, Qantas, and Virgin Australia.

Live Activities support for flights was already available through the Flighty app, so Apple is playing catch up here with the iPhone's built-in Wallet app. Flighty still offers many more features, including the Passport, which lets you keep track of cities that you have flown to, see your total distance traveled, and compare stats with friends.

iOS 26 is available now in developer beta, with a public beta to follow next month.

Oh sorry, my phone battery is dead. What??? you wont let me on the plane? But there were no available chargers when i was getting drunk at the Bar due to your delayed flight!? It's your fault gate agent person. Everything is your fault airline employee.

I like using my phone for my boarding passes, but the past couple of my flights, the boarding passes for American Airlines flights didn't list the correct gate. Mildly annoying when I showed up at the wrong gate, but I should have checked the Arrivals board to verify the info.

But do they pay 30% commission on their airfare prices to Apple?

(For the sake of of fairness vs. other developers, I sure hope they do)

Does flighty let you share the live activities with friends and family who don’t have flighty installed and downloaded (nor a subscription?). I feel like this is a game changer feature.

if you want to share your flights on flighty with somebody, you can share a link to them, and they can track basic stats of your flight on their website.

if they do have flighty installed, they can add you as a flighty friend, and all the flights you add will automatically show up on their end, and they'll receive a notification when you add a flight and when your flight lands.

if they have flighty installed AND they pay for flighty pro, they'll be able to see your flight in a live activity.

i guess in terms of live activities, using the new feature in the wallet app works better, but only for select airlines.

Haven't been on a plane since 2018 and don't miss it one bit. Actually I still feel a bit of PTSD.

Good to know. Hopefully more airlines support it. Might take some time though, not expecting it to happen soon.

Good for the people that need the new feature! I'm perfectly content with the existing boarding passes in Wallet.

Most of aIrline's apps are probably the slowest in updating information about gate changes, delays etc. (KLM is expert on delivering wrong and late info).
Using Schiphol app for all m,y flights and usually getting updates ahead of airliner and even abroad.

By Lufthansa do they mean just Lufthansa or Lufthansa Group? I.e. if I got a booking with Austrian, Brussels or Swiss I can all retrieve the boarding pass in any of the 4 apps

you must not live on the west coast.
I do, and they are trash. They’ve lost my luggage twice. Once it was returned to me a day later, the other time they completely lost my entire checked bag. They’ve even lost their CEOs luggage (and no, they do not use contractors, it’s Alaska employees).

The only people I know who “prefer” Alaska are people who live in Seattle, as it’s almost always their only option for many routes.
