I'm guessing I'm not the first person to notice this...but for those who may not know it, like I didn't until today...if you dim the screen the Apple Logo on the other sides dims with it! :p

*facepalm*

:p

The apple logo uses light from the backlight, it isn't independently powered or that would be a huge waste of battery life!
Some people put a mod on which changes the colour of the logo to green, red or even classic apple rainbow!

:D

Fun thread. Will enjoy it till it hits the wasteland, and then briefly after.

(@ the mod) I know that there are stickers you can put over the logo to change the color: do you know another way?

The classic way to do this mod is to open up the Mac and put the cellophane or other gel on the inside. There isn't really any other way, since it's lit by the backlight. But you can put whatever you want in between the light and the logo, and people have even done rainbow stripe / old school logos that look like this:

Oh, I can. ;)

Seriously, though, the glowing Apple is one of the little things about Apple products I find really adorable. :)

I think so too... its like a logo to show people that i am using an apple product... :)

That actually looks pretty good with the white material on that model, I'm not sure how good it would look with the aluminum though.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that one either. A glowing black logo might be fun on the new Macbooks, but I'm not sure how well it would work or if anyone's tried it.

Sorry but don't let this one die :p

I've done that similar mod with my iBooks, but I used sharpies and a clear piece of plastic and made my own designs. A lot better in my opinion instead paying what $10? for a colored piece of plastic or "gel".
