Just a small trivia question; a showerthought so to speak…

Is there any info, any trivia, any interview or any other hint on what „kind“ (cultivar?) of apple the Apple logo is representing?

Maybe Steve Jons liked Granny Smiths so much, or there was a Golden Delicious tree on campus?

Any ideas are welcome! 😅

I heard they had nothing special in mind. The bite in the Apple should distinguish it from a cherry and at the same time represents the word byte. But that could also be just a legend.

Often all those stories about big companies that had their origin allegedly in a garage were just invented later to make a better marketing image. Sometimes it's not even the real people that are presented for inventing something special.

Is it that banal? I was always under the impression that it was chosen to honor Alan Turing’s death after he bit a poisoned apple (he was left-handed).

Yeah, I also heard that about the bite... Makes sense as well...

The original Apple logo was Isaac Newton sitting under a tree with an apple about to fall on his head. So, I guess the idea was that an Apple could inspire you to create something great that would change the world? The Apple in that logo doesn't look like a Macintosh (McIntosh?) to me however. :)

Good point, maybe we should go with Newton's apple tree, supposedly "Flower of Kent"...

I mean, it's actually pretty round.. :D
