So today I was using my MacBook Pro near some windows. Some bright light shined through and I noticed a yellow blotch appeared on my screen. Turns out it was the light from the Apple Logo showing through the screen because of the brightness from outside. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal. The Apple logo is illuminated by the same light that illuminates the LCD screen. That makes it possible for light to filter through the Apple logo and be visible through the screen. If you frequently use your computer in settings where this would be disturbing, consider covering up the logo with an opaque case or sticker or something.

Next time you're at a Starbucks shine a laser pointer at the logo and watch the owner freak out.

If you are not constantly in this situation you can also use a few layers of post-it notes (darker colors better) placed over the logo as a quick temporary solution.
