Apple lose i trademark case Down Under

Apple has been dealt a severe blow having been told that it no longer has a monopoly on the letter "i" as part of the name for its products.

A trademarks tribunal has knocked back Apple's bid to stop a small company from trademarking the name DOPi for use on its laptop bags and cases for Apple products.

Good, they shouldn't have sole control over that. They keep trying to lock down "pod" even in cases where it has no relation to their iPod products.

Other companies in Australia can use the "i" moniker with a little more confidence, which is good, but they'll still have to be careful.

Thank god. I'd hate to have payed Apple whenever I'd have used the letter I. This thread along would have cost me my wallet.....
