when i right click with the mouse it highlights the things i click on, very very annoying. it wasnt this way before. anyway to fix it? i've gone thru the options in the mouse settings but nothing is working.

As far as I am concerned, what you explain is exactly how it should behave!
If you want to place the cursor "in" a word, use the left click. Using the right click enables you to search, cut, copy, paste etc.

Oh dear! Did you read my post?

For further confirmation, go to System Preferences > Mouse and you'll see a demo! Apple actually state that right clicking with the Magic Mouse "Activates the shortcut menu". Finally, if you don't want to use this facility, just turn it off by clearing the "Secondary Click" box.
