Im new to the Mac OS and Ive been enjoying the iMac since its purchase in Jan 08.

For email client, I just used Apple Mail because it was already included. Im wondering if Encourage is better in any other way? Im using imap Gmail.. nothing more sophisticated mail server.

Any thoughts?

No. Entourage is nasty. Stick with Mail.app for use with Gmail.

:eek: Entourage isn't that bad. I use it & much prefer it to Mail.

Horses for courses I guess. Go try Entourage, You may just like it.

Have Fun

thanks for ur comments. I guess Apple Mail works for me for now.. just wondering if my loyalty still exists with Microsoft products... i didnt really like Outlook just because i thought i was a bloat-ware compared to Thunderbird or other smaller packaged email progs.

Entourage is not Outlook. In fact, they use incompatible file formats. BTW, that is not a good thing.

You are in a new land and must learn new ways.

Mail by all means... I've been using it since august when I got my MB and haven't looked back, especially since gmail got imap

entourage may have more options and possibilities but personally i find it so unintuitive that i doubt i would ever come across them let alone use them.

Mail pretty much does what i expect a mail program to do

I've switched back and forth so many times I've lost count. Since I installed Office 2008, I went back to try Entourage again, and I'm liking it so far. It does all the same things as Mail/iCal/Address Book, etc, but all from one place, and there's something to be said for that.

I also like the Project Center because I do a lot of different things in my job, and it's nice to be able to keep track of what meeting is for what project and which contacts are on this grant, but not the other grant, and so forth.

Don't dismiss it just because it's a Microsoft program

I would very much like to use Entourage but I won't because of the following reasons:
  • Entourage uses a single Database file which isn't compatible to Time Machine
  • Contacts View is inferior to Addressbook
  • Syncing with .Mac is problematic to say the least. If you aren't carefull you end up with many many duplicates...
  • Doesn't directly sync with my iPhone - only indirectly through .Mac and iSync.
  • Definitively slower than Mail.app on my Mac Pro...

Goof info. I would have never figured that out.
BTW, your spec on your mac is insane. What a beast you got there.
