I do not know if I am in the right area but I will ask the question anyway.

I had originally set my mail trash and sent folders preference to delete all mail after 1 week. I know that I can change it on my computer to other lengths. The problem is, my computer is finished, it died!! Now I only have my iPhone and iPad. Can this preference, to change the length of time to keep emails in a folder, be altered on my iPhone or iPad? If so, how? If not, what are my choices?

Thanks

I do not have a computer at this time nor do I plan on getting 1 in the near future as I am not sure I really need it for every day use. I am retired and an iPhone and iPad are suffice. The only problem, as I described, is that I can not change the preference in the trash and sent folders that control how long my emails stay in the folder till they are automatically deleted.

But to answer your original question -

My laptop was a MacBook Pro 2009, that should tell you everything. LOL.

An”antique”.

You might try logging on to your cloud account online (not through mail app but web browser) and check the setting there. You do not get the choice of setting how long to keep trashed emails it defaults to 30 days. The other option if you have a friend, or a good relationship with someone at the Apple store is to use their computer to setup your id on it temporarily and reset the timing then just delete your user account.

Thanks. Did not know that the trash emails default to 30 days. Will also try your other suggestion.

To be clear in the Mail app on my system I can adjust the timing to on quitting, 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month. But on cloud there was no adjustment option it just said that it automatically delete after 30 days. (which BTW is what I have my mail app set to so it may default to whatever you set (in your case one week). If this is the case, your best option would be to use a friend's computer as suggested.
