Hi everyone,

I'm after some help. Turned on my 3 year old iMac tonight and the Apple Mail Dock icon had a '?' mark on it, and could not launch. The app is missing from the 'Applications' folder.

I have reinstalled it again from my Snow Leopard DVD and I get the following message:

"You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mail version 4.0 (1075/1082). It can't be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.6 (Build 10J567). For more information, click the help button.'

The help button does not help me resolve the problem. I've checked Software Update (nothing waiting) and tried to find a later version on the APple website and now I've run out of ideas...

Can anybody help me please?

Peter

UPDATE: I have found a solution on the Apple forums - the advice given there (thanks Kappy!) was:

"Use your Snow Leopard installer DVD. In the Optional Installs folder is an Optional Installs installer package. Open the package. You can select Mail separately for reinstallation.

Then apply the 10.6.6 Combo Updater that will update Mail to the current version."

It worked perfectly for me. No idea why it happened, but if it happens to you, hopefully this may help you too. All the Best, Peter
