Apple mail - Archived emails - Deleting Mailbox (?)

Hey all, quick question for someone who may know.

I have an old Mailbox in Apple Mail. It's an old Gmail account that I have a full backup of all the emails. But the account is now closed. I wanted to perhaps archive all the emails, and then delete the mailbox (because I don't like the ! always being there for All Mailboxes.) So if I archive all emails, and then delete the Mailbox, will it also delete all the archived emails from that account?
