Before Snow Leopard I don't remember my GMAIL account showing all of the imap folders just below the Mailboxes. It looks like this in my left most pane:

MAILBOXES
>Mobile Me
>Gmail
>Comcast
Sent
Trash
Junk

This is just below and the area I'm talking about.

GMAIL
>[Gmail]
>>[Gmail]
All Mail
Drafts
Sent Mail
Spam
Starred
Trash
>Deleted Items
>Junk E-mail
>Send Mail
>Trash

Why is there so many folders to contend with? I don't claim to know much about imap but I can't understand all of the folder structure. If someone cares to chime in and explain to me I'd appreciate it. But I'd like to know how to "not show" the GMAIL section.

ARE YOU SERIOUS???
so easy. but i would have never figured it out, thanks
whats the point of having all those folders anyway?

Wait a sec...
I changed it back to normal and then back to [Gmail] in the IMAP path prefix, and now the folders aren't disappearing!
