I've got a several month old 15" rMBP and have noticed that when I go to shut it down it takes several minutes to shut down.

I believe its Apple Mail thats not closing and thus not allowing the macbook to shut down. It usually says to quit Mail and then shutdown.

Why won't it shut down without having to go to Mail and quit first or Force Quit.

Help!

You should always quit all applications before shutting down.

Well the weird thing is that I have to "FORCE QUIT" mail because it won't just quit by clicking/selecting QUIT from the menu.

Open Mail's Activity window. Is there any particular server transaction that's hanging?
