Apple Mail not storing email locally

Hi,

I use mobile me and have various mobile me folders set up using apple mail 3.0 in 10.6.

If I'm not connected to the internet most of my email messages are missing on my local machine.

In the account settings for MobileMe I have 'Keep Copies of messages for offline viewing' selected as all messages and their attachments. But this does not seem to be working....

Any ideas?
